Autoblog Night Watch: Mind your German, supercars unite!
Auto Motor Und Sport got the world's fastest and flashiest together to put them through their paces on a high-speed test track. The vehicles tapped for the test include the Bugatti Veyron, Benz SLR, Lambo Murcielago LP640, Ferrari 599 GTB, Dodge Viper SRT-10, Aston Martin Vanquish S, Ford GT, new Corvette Z06 and the Porsche 997 Turbo.
Expectedly, those of you who not fluent in Deutschlandic prose won't get too much information out of the clip, but its not everyday you get to see this many hi-po exotics strutting their stuff in their natural environment. Cue the Red Baron's theme music.

Ehra-Lessien Test Track is the track, and the home of the veyrons top speed attempt, not sure if this was it or not. Anyone notice the vette was an automatic?

In the print version they wrote, that the Veyron would have been even faster. But it started to rain a little bit and they couldn't take the curves at the beginning and end of the 9km straight with enough speed.
BTW 2.5s from 0 to 100kmh(60mph) is insane.

They do high speed tests with tuned cars every year, too. I believe at Nardo (Italy) and it gets even more insane when a 600hp VW Rabbit/Golf goes 200+mph, but looks like the ones in your neighborhood...
BTW: You don't want to hear the translation because German car magazines aren't anywhere close to something like TopGear, they are just plain and boring!

The one truly amazingly effective is the 599... It's 2nd fastest in top speed, 0-200 and 0-300, beated only by the Veyron, and 3rd in 0-100, when it's only 0.1sec slover than the Murcielago.
All the while being a RWD only!! (unlike the AWD Veyron and the Murcielago).
And it's cheaper than the 'lago, too..

Price for speed has no meaning what so ever! Some 35K vw driving at 190km/h will get a "better score".
